Buying from a Merchant

Which Merchants accept SNAP?

We have a full list of authorised SNAP Merchants on our website in the Where to Spend SNAP section on our home page.

We're signing new Merchants all the time, but if a Merchant you want to buy from isn't on the list, contact us with their name and we'll follow it up.

Only Merchants authorised by us to accept SNAP are on this list. Don't attempt to buy from a Merchant that is not on it: they may be attempting to 'phish' for your Account Number and PIN.

I didn't get the goods or services I asked for!

Although we can not demand a refund from a Merchant on your behalf, contact us with the details of the transaction and we will do what we can to help.

Any Merchant who is regularly failing to provide goods or services will have their authorisation to accept SNAP revoked.

How can I buy stuff for more than £100?

We regret that this is currently not possible because of the level of certification we have with the FSA. In the near future, however, we will be able to increase the Account Limit (the amount that can be held in a SNAP Account) but you will first need to successfully undergo a simple positive identity verification process.

My transaction was not authorised

The three most likely reasons for this are as follows:
  1. You did not have sufficient funds in your Account for the purchase, which may have included other charges from the Merchant (such as delivery)
  2. You were trying to buy from a Merchant that sells Age Restricted goods or services with a SNAP Account that has not been Age Verified (see Age Verification)
  3. You may have exceeded one or more of the transaction limits on your account (see Transaction Limits)
