SNAP Wallets

What is a SNAP Wallet?

Similar to storing your actual SNAP Card(s) in your wallet or purse, the SNAP Wallet allows you to store the details of each SNAP Account you have (each SNAP Card is a separate SNAP Account) in a password protected area within our servers.

Doing this has a number of advantages:

  1. You have a secure record of the unique 19 digit SNAP Account Number you hold. This means that if you are unfortunate enough to lose your card, you won't lose your money.
  2. If you have a number of SNAP Accounts and you have entered their details into your Wallet, you can see the balance of each simultaneously, without having to log in to each Account separately.
  3. To view the detailed transaction history on each SNAP Card you've entered, you need only click on the account you want to view and then enter the PIN, so you don't need to enter the 19 digit Account Number every time.
  4. You can manage aspects of each card either together or individually. For example, once you're logged in to your Wallet, you need only verify that you are over 18 once and then you can then choose which cards in your Wallet you want 'Age Verified' without having to go through the Age Verification process for each card (see Age Verification).

Please note: only SNAP Accounts can be recorded in your SNAP Wallet. For example, we can not accept credit or debit cards.

How do I set up a SNAP Wallet?

Log in to MySNAP with one of your SNAP Account(s), then choose 'Wallet sign-up' from the right-hand menu. The Wallet Sign Up page then asks you to create a username and a password, and you will also be asked to answer three 'secret questions'.

Caution: the password is case SeNsiTiVe

Each time you log into your SNAP Wallet, you will be asked for your username, password and your answer to one of the secret questions.

I've forgotten my password

If you've forgotten your password, click on Forgot your password? in the Wallet login screen. You will then need to answer each of the secret questions we asked when you created the Wallet. If answered successfully, we'll send you a new temporary password to the e-mail address you originally gave when you created the Wallet.

When you next log in, you will need to change this temporary password.

Adding a SNAP Card into my Wallet failed

This could be because of one or more of the following reasons:

  1. You already have 10 Accounts recorded in your Wallet (the maximum is 10).
  2. The Account you tried to record is already recorded in another Wallet.
  3. The Account Number you entered is not recognised as a SNAP Account Number.

Why should I 'delete the cache and close the browser' when I log out?

Depending on its settings, your browser may store information from secure pages. If this is the case, it may be possible for another person with access to the computer you are using to obtain sensitive information from pages you have looked at, or perhaps gain access to your SNAP Wallet.

Deleting the cache and closing the browser should remove any stored information.
